Giving With an Attitude of Gratitude

Are You in Jeopardy?

Join us for this important series during our regular Sunday Worship at 10:30 AM

Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is a real challenge in our contemporary culture. Translating God’s message from “church language” into a language that everyone can understand is not always easy for people who have grown up in the church.

How can we find new ways to bring the message of grace, love, and forgiveness to people who are hungry for true meaning in lives that are often filled with pain and chaos?

How can we offer comfort to people who want to hear a healing word, but often cannot see past the traditional language of “the church”?

How can we live authentic lives as followers of Christ and help people see beyond the hypocrisy of those who “play church,” into the hearts of those who “live Christ” every day?

These are just some of the questions we will try to answer in a conversation about sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are all called to share this message; are you in jeopardy of failing to answer God’s call?

Join us for this series and invite a friend to come with you. This is the perfect time to bring someone to church who is seeking something special for their lives that is now missing. This series is for regular church-goers and those who haven’t seen the inside of a church in many years. This is a time to talk about what following Christ looks like in the 21st Century and listen for healing words from God.

WEEK ONE
Sunday, January 15, 2012:
“Church Speak”
– 1 Corinthians 6:12-20

What is the state of the church in America today? How can we make our message clearer and more inclusive?

WEEK TWO
Sunday, January 22, 2012:
“Live Differently”
– 1 Corinthians 7:29-31

What do people see when they see you? If you profess to be a Christian, other people expect a certain type of behavior from you. Are we living the life that Jesus asks us to live, or are we merely “Sunday Christians”?

WEEK THREE
Sunday, January 29, 2012:
“Tripping Others”
– 1 Corinthians 8:1-13

Every second a person dies without knowing who Jesus really is. Are we doing things that prevent people from learning about Jesus through us? Does our behavior or language send the wrong message to our friends and co-workers?

WEEK FOUR
Sunday, February 5, 2012:
“All Things to All People”
– 1 Corinthians 9:16-23

We really have no excuses for living lives that are different from our faith in Jesus. We can live in this culture without becoming like it. We can be friends with lots of different people without harboring some hidden agenda to “convert” them. We are called to love all people and we pray that our love can then be used by God to transform hearts. All we need to be is ourselves all the time for everybody.

WEEK FIVE
Sunday, February 12, 2012:
“Run the Race”
– 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Fewer than 20% of Americans attend church on a regular basis. It is a shame that we cannot share what we have with more of our friends and neighbors. Running a race all by yourself is really boring; wouldn’t it be better to be part of a relay team? Studies show that most people come to church because they were invited by a trusted friend. Maybe it is time you invited someone.

WEEK SIX
Sunday, February 19, 2012:
“Shine Your Light”
– 2 Corinthians 4:3-6

The church is not a fancy building, or a preacher, or a choir; the church is not even the work that it does. The church is the people who take their mission seriously and really want to shine the Light of Christ into a dark and troubled world. Church is not about us, it is about God and it is about helping people learn who God is and what God can do in their lives. Come be the church with us and shine your light before all people.
