New Building Information

DECEMBER 6, 2007Sand Springs United Methodist Church went before the Tulsa District Committee on Church Building and Location to seek final approval for the New Family Life Center on our new land.  The District Committee has requested more information regarding previous and current budgets and projections for apportionments for 2007.  Once this information has been reviewed a final decision will be made, but they anticipate a full approval.  The "presentation" committee will be submitting this information in writing to the committee by the end of next week.

JANUARY 31, 2008 We received word from our District Superintendent, Mike Chaffin, that the Tulsa District Board of Church Location and Building has granted approval for SSUMC to proceed with our plans to build a Family Life Center on our property at 38th and 113th W. Ave. in Sand Springs.  If the project ends up costing significantly more than the estimates presented to the District Board, SSUMC will need to get further approval.

The next step includes securing final project bids and then coming before the church in a charge conference to gain approval for them.  A ground breaking day will be discussed at the next Building Committee Meeting.  Dates will be announced as soon as they are available.

We will soon have drawings of the Family Life Center and photos of our property on our website, so check back later!

 January 2009:

the building of our Family Life Center. We approved the revised amount of $604,000 cost for the project, authorizing the Trustees to sign all appropriate contracts/paperwork and construction documents to facilitate construction of the building. In addition, we voted to have the Finance Committee refinance the existing land debt with additional borrowing up to $100,000 and this be brought to the administrative Council for final approval prior to the conclusion of construction. After these motions were approved, District Superintendent Mike Chaffin presented our church a check of $23,000 towards the completion of our project.  This amount represents the entire budget of the District Committee on Church Building and Location for new church projects construction.

As we enter this new and exciting phase in the life of our congregation, I want to thank the leadership and generosity of everyone who has made this day possible. Your faith and perseverance has been extraordinary. You never gave up. You prayed without ceasing. You gave your time and resources with your hearts ready to claim the future with hope. Thank you so very much!

So, let us celebrate! Let us move forward as the Lord leads us into all the opportunities this building represents. Through this Family Life Center, let us, in the name of Christ, grow and serve, reach out and minister, share and welcome as we look forward to the day we open its doors to our community.
