A Message to Visitors
Dear Friends and Visitors,
Welcome! We are EXCITED about our congregation and hope you will be, too!
One of the best things about our congregation is the people. Our membership is fairly evenly distributed across age ranges. We have many long time members, young families, singles, empty-nesters, and those who are retired. We love our fellowship times together--chili suppers, church picnics, mission dinners, Trunk-or-Treat, UMW events, Children's Living Christmas Tree, Choir Concerts, Seniors in Action events--we love to get together and it shows. These events are the secret to getting to know each other!
SSUMC loves kids! On any given Sunday about 40% of those in attendance are 18 years old or younger. We're not a big church and that gives us a BIG advantage! Your kids get noticed and in no time they will have a whole new group of people who care about them. We have a nursery where our littlest ones are cared for and loved. Preschoolers meet in the Sunbeam Room where they are learning lots of things about Jesus through games, music, and Bible Storytelling. We use the Rotation Sunday School Model for our kindergartners through 3th graders, complete with a Bible Computer Lab to study God's word. We have a pre-teen ministry called Faith Explorers just for 4th & 5th graders. They meet every Sunday morning and Wednesday after school for fun and Bible Study with a variety of outings and service projects. We are also blessed to have Ms. Cathy, our Children's Ministry Choir Director, who leads our children in learning about God through music.
Our older youth meet every Sunday morning and Wednesday night for prayer, Bible Study and fellowship. Oh, and FOOD! Teenagers do love to eat and our crew is no exception. Every month provides a variety of opportunities to serve, learn and worship. Check out their link on the home page to find out what they are up to!
Ministry doesn't stop there! We have one of the most active group for senior citizens in the area. We call them SIA (Seniors in Action). With almost 100 people in their group--they definitely know how to PARTY. They are always up to something and whatever it is, you can bet they will have fun doing it.
You can see, we do have a lot to be EXCITED about at Sand Springs United Methodist Church. We are a friendly and genuine congregation. You can dress up...or come casual.
